Dear Ladley Family,

We reach out to you from the Barone family who marked the passing of your mother as one of the very special people from our childhood. She was special to our mother and that made her special to all (eight) of us. Our mother, Barbara Heinz Barone went to PCW with Marjorie Noonan Ladley and they remained friends meeting for lunch from time to time with a group that graduated together in 1943. We remember seeing Marjorie at a luncheon hosted by my mother shortly before she passed in 1997.

Marjorie was Godmother for our sister Bernadette who fondly remembers a straw purse that Marjorie sent to her in 1966 when she was in the fifth grade. She has cherished the purse that she intends to pass on to a theater to use as a period piece.

Kris followed her mother to Chatham College and while not in the same graduating class, Kris and Barbara Ladley enjoyed some fun times at Benedum. And Rob played football with Tom Ladley when they were students at Washington and Jefferson.

Marjorie is remembered with fondness for the lifelong friendship with our mother and the kindness she showed to us all. Warm regards to each of you and with sorrow for your loss,

Rob Barone, Kris Barone and Bernadette Barone Choura and the Barone Family

I first met Marjorie eight years ago when I started working as a Gallery Attendant at the Frick Art Museum. A colleague told me, “If you want to learn about the collection, eavesdrop on Marjorie as she’s giving her docent lectures.” It was advice I’ve been giving to new Frick employees ever since!

She quickly recognized my curiosity, and would give me personal lessons about some of our paintings: “Come over here and let me give you today’s lesson on Loo’s The Arts in Supplication!”

Her warm, witty and knowledgeable lectures would charm all Frick visitors, whether they were art aficionados or not. Even recently, as she performed docent duties with her walker, her energy, educated obervations and anecdotes were as timely as they must have been when she started at the Frick many years ago.

She was a grand lady, and will be sorely missed by me, my colleagues, and scores of Frick visitors.
