Verne C. Koch

Age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.  He was a loving, generous, and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  He was born on December 11, 1928 in Brighton, Iowa to Kenath and Bernice Koch.  He was predeceased by his wife of 74 years, Mary Anne Paulu Koch, who passed away on August 29, 2024.  He is survived by his brothers, Robert Koch and Thomas Koch and was predeceased by his brothers, Donald Koch and Keith Koch and his sister, Irma Jean Koch.  Verne is also survived by his daughters, Mary Jean Ludwig, Barb Whistler, Sue Clark, and Patty Fink along with 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. 

Verne graduated from Iowa State University in 1949.  He spent his entire career working for Alcoa Aluminum.  A committed follower of Jesus, Verne was actively involved at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church.  He loved his community.  He served on the Fox Chapel School Board, helped found the non-profit organization All of Us Care, and worked tirelessly to encourage support for the Cooper Siegel Library and the Lauri Ann West Community Center.  

To celebrate and honor Verne’s long life, we will gather for a memorial service on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA.
