Age 92 of Aspinwall, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, December 19, 2022. Shirley was born in Pittsburgh on October 6, 1930 and was a daughter of the late James and Susan (Martin) Gaghan; beloved wife of the late William Joseph Kotchey; loving mother of Susan (Thomas) Esser, Arlene (David) Sabol, Kathleen (Charles) Heckel, Noreen (Patrick) McGrady and Billie Jo Powers; cherished grandmother of Stacy (Daniel) Fotovich, Tracy (J.D.) Howe, David (Apryl) Sabol, Kaitlyn (Michael) Harrison, Allison Sabol, Chelsea (Thomas) Nwranski, Ashley (Ryun) Heilman-Kopps, Sean McGrady, Ryan McGrady, Joseph Powers, Julie Powers and the late Thomas Esser; also survived by 18 great grandchildren. Shirley was the youngest of eleven brothers and sisters.

She was a retired employee of AT&T. Shirley devoted her life to her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed swimming with the kids at the pool, family Sunday dinners and traveling.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21st from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, December 22nd from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall, where a parting prayer will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave. Aspinwall. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, O'Hara Twp.
