Sheila Marie Ward, M.D., died in her sleep at her home in Fox Chapel on January 4, 2025.
Sheila was born to Richard Ward, M.D. and Norah Muldoon Ward in Seattle, Washington on May 19, 1952 and lived in Wiesbaden, Germany and San Antonio, Texas before returning to Seattle in 1961. She attended Our Lady of Fatima Grade School and Holy Names Academy, graduating in 1970, and then obtained her B.S. from University of San Diego, M.P.H. and M.D. from the University of Washington. She trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut and completed her fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Magee Women’s Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh. She held faculty positions at Boston University and Wright State University before returning to Magee Women’s Hospital, eventually moving into private practice and then administrative medicine as Medical Director for Healthy First Steps in Women’s Health for United Health Care.
Sheila was generous with her time and talents, a lifelong friend and fiercely loyal to her family, friends, and associates. Known as “Peach” by those closest to her, her sparkling, bright spirit brought endless joy, warmth, and fun to anyone lucky enough to be in her orbit. She will be greatly missed by many.
Sheila leaves behind her son, River Richard Muldoon Ward, his spouse Ilia Linkevich, brother Kevin Ward, M.D., his spouse Beverly Ward, nieces Caitlin Grams (spouse Nathaniel Grams, children Lennon Margaret Grams and Phoebe June Grams) and Kaleigh Ward (partner Kasun Wijegunawardana), nephew Cary Joseph Muldoon Ward (partner Bebe Besch) Tundra, her beloved Great Pyrenees, and Elvis the turtle, who appeared on her front walkway 30 years ago. She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother Timothy Muldoon Ward (surviving spouse Cheryl Uyeji).
No Visitation. A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Christ the King Parish, St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave., Aspinwall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Huru International or The Fistula Foundation are suggested.
