RuthAnn Molloy
Age 92, of Fox Chapel, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Beloved wife of the late William H. Molloy, and daughter of the late Howard and Ruth (nee King) Baird, RuthAnn was born in McKeesport, graduated from State Teachers College of Indiana, PA and for many years was an elementary school teacher.
Following Bill’s retirement from ALCOA, the Molloys became welcomed regulars at Pittsburgh’s many theatrical and literary events. In their spare time, they enjoyed seeking out the best local happy hours and sharing food and laughs with their legions of friends. RuthAnn was a life-long supporter of Pittsburgh, the Steelers, the Democratic Party, Buddhist meditation and especially enjoyed gardening and bird watching. RuthAnn and Bill are remembered city-wide as steadfast supporters of Pittsburgh theater, particularly championing homegrown actors and artists.
She is survived by a nephew, Douglas Gilbert of Media, PA, niece, Donna (Charlie) Pastors of Nashville, TN, and too many friends to mention individually. RuthAnn’s life was a testament to the strength of friendship, and she especially wished to thank Mark Bauer, Karen Baum, Eileen and Warren Chang and their daughter Liberty Anne, Ted Hoover, Virginia Pribanic, Jan Ranii- Dropcho, Barbara Reichbaum, Corey Rieger, and Wendy Taylor for the compassion and care they provided during the short illness preceding her death.
A remembrance of her life will be held at a later date. In her memory, text an old friend. No cards or flowers, please. Arrangements by WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, Aspinwall.
