Regis Edwin Wessell
Age 93, of Fox Chapel, formerly of Regent Square, on Tuesday October 6, 2020. Beloved husband of 66 years to Mary Lou (Sette) Wessell; loving father of David (Jan) Wessell, Regina (Eric) Frey, Teri (Brian) McDaniel and Michael (Kristin) Wessell; adoring grandfather of Sam and Ben Wessell, Regis (Dilara), Ian and Josh Frey, Jacob McDaniel and Maura (Dylan) Jacobs; proud great-grandfather of Jackson McDaniel, Shepperd Jacobs and Ada Frey. Raised in Greenfield, Regis graduated from Central Catholic High School and enlisted in the US Navy on his 18th birthday, serving on the USS Hamblen during WWII. Post-war, he worked for E.L. Wiegand Co. and Red Line Express, Inc. and earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, attending classes at night. Regis was an avid woodworker, volunteering in his retirement to teach woodworking classes to 8th graders at St. Maurice School in Forest Hills, and could often be found working in the yard and garden. He was a long-time lector and choir member at St. Scholastica Church, Aspinwall, and enjoyed participating in the Veterans Breakfast Club.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for immediate family, followed by interment with military honors at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A celebration of Rege's life will be held in 2021.
