Peter G. Bolanis
Age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Highland Park, where he was born on December 3, 1929. He was the son of George and Contilla Bolanis and the brother of the late William Bolanis: He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy (McQuillan) Bolanis; beloved sons, George (Fran) and Michael, and grandsons, Peter, Henry, Rafe, Andrew, and Cole.
Peter was a graduate of Shady Side Academy and Cornell University, proudly performing the duties as captain of their wrestling teams. After serving in the Air Force in Japan during the Korean War, he returned to Pittsburgh where he joined the family business of Bolan’s Restaurant and Candies. Peter acted as President of Bolan’s Candies where he oversaw all their candy creations and stores. He also served as the President of Retail Confectioners International. He remained an avid sports fan, enjoying many rounds of golf with friends at Longue Vue Club and running nine marathons, perhaps his version of a midlife crisis, taking him to Paris and Athens. After retiring, he found a second calling as a volunteer at St. Margaret Hospital. He will be greatly missed.
There will be a private family service and interment. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life reception on Saturday, January 7th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at The Mews, 300 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
