Patricia S. Cunningham

Age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Patty is survived by her loving children, Casey Cunningham, Heather Smith (Ezra), Patrick Cunningham (Caitlyn), and Kevin Cunningham (Amy Rypczyk); her cherished grandchildren Meara, Beatty, Kelly, Wakefield, and Ada; and her dear siblings Tracey Roman, Chris Snyder, and Nick Snyder. She also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to count. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers George and Teddy Simons, and her sister-in-law Monica Cunningham.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, as a proud Irish Catholic, Patty’s second home was Ocean City, New Jersey. There she spent countless summers with her beloved Mom Garvey, siblings, and cousins. As a mother, she shared her love of Ocean City with her children and extended family, creating traditions that still live on today.

Patty’s proudest achievement was raising her four angel pies, all of whom  hold the memory of her wit and warmth close to their hearts. She instilled a love of the arts in each of her children and regularly sought out cultural experiences for them to attend as a family. Patty was a creature of habit and of comfort. She lived as both a cycle-breaker and a cautionary tale. She danced in the sun. She took long walks no matter the weather. She laughed easily and with joy. She cared deeply for all she encountered, and she held onto her sense of wonder and her sharp tongue until the end. She was a total babe and we’ll miss her forever.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 17th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 18th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Parish, St. Bede Church, 509 S. Dallas Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15208. Interment Private.
