Age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Alexander Maslaney and Stella Yurkacy, loving husband of Lorraine Caleffe Maslaney, loving father of Karen Koyack, Karla (Richard) Owens, Nicholas (Barbara) Maslaney and Ken Maslaney. Loving grandfather of Lauren, Michael, Benjamin, Kevin, Megan, Derek and Carrie, loving great grandfather to Henry. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Nick was proud veteran, and completed two tours in Korea, serving as a Sargent in the U.S. Army. He was a long- time employee at Western Electric. His hobbies included ham radio and flying flight simulators, but his greatest passion was photography. He created many memories with his pictures and movies. He was an avid Steeler fan and season ticket holder. One of the first games he attended was the Immaculate Reception, and he continued to enjoy many more Steeler games with friends and family. He loved to sing and play the piano. He was a volunteer for the St. Margaret Foundation and often reminisced with other veterans at the VA in Aspinwall. He enjoyed talking with people and his smile lit up the room. Everyone he came in contact with loved him, affectionally calling him St. Nick. He came from humble beginnings, yet always thought of others before himself. His family and his faith were his greatest joy. The family wishes to thank Michele Simkovic and Grane Hospice for their compassionate care.
