Nancy Wenner Cunningham
Age 88, of Fox Chapel, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022. Nancy was born in Pittsburgh on February 5, 1934 to Edward Minor and Elizabeth “Betty” Wenner and grew up in Pleasant Hills, graduating from Clairton High School in 1952. She attended Pennsylvania State University, where she was a member of the Nu Gamma chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority, and graduated in 1956 with a degree in Education.
After college, Nancy became a Secondary and Middle School teacher at Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson High Schools. While raising her family, she continued her passion for education by being active in education organizations, being a long-term substitute teacher at area private and parochial schools, and tutoring. Nancy was also an active member of the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church.
Nancy was married to L. Roger Cunningham on November 27, 1963 until his passing in 2013. During their 49 years of marriage, Nancy and Roger were blessed with two sons, Lee (Teresa) of Wexford, and Scott (Amy) of Morris Plains, NJ; and six grandchildren, Ian (Jillian), Sarah, Elspeth, Gavin, Lily, and Molly. She is also survived by her sister, Sally (Reynolds) Couch of Atlanta.
A Memorial Service is being planned for 2023.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Cooper-Siegel Community Library, 403 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238; or to the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Arrangements by Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, Aspinwall.
