Michael J. Salemme, age 67, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Born on March 3, 1958, the same date as his mother, in Pittsburgh. Loving son of the late Arthur and Mary Catherine “Sally” Salemme. Husband to Mia, beloved brother to Edward, Jeffrey (Karen), and Richard (Loretta). Devoted father to Andrew, Alexis Dean (Jason), and Jessica. Stepfather to Kimberly, Terry and Seja Kaplan. Proud grandfather of Aiden and Zachary Salemme and Jason Arthur “JR” Dean. He is survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Michael graduated from Fox Chapel Area High School in 1976 and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Duquesne University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He devoted his life to the service of others. He was a dedicated youth baseball and soccer coach for a decade, and, at least to his son, was the Jim Leyland of youth baseball coaching. Beyond his passion for Pittsburgh sports teams and coaching was his love of Christ and helping others. Michael worked with troubled youth at Pressley Ridge Schools before becoming a pastor for the Assemblies of God denomination. He made numerous mission trips to Africa and continued to support the Christian ministry in Africa through his Eternal Life Ministries organization.
Michael loved going on adventures with his three younger brothers, as well as many family trips and get-togethers. He was especially close to his 28 first cousins and enjoyed visiting with and taking care of his extended family members. He was also a proud storyteller, competitive board game player and amateur handyman who loved to work around the house.
Michael shared his faith and his love with all those he encountered.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5–7 p.m. and on Saturday, January 10, from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. service at the WEDDELL - AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall.
