September 24, 1931 - December 16, 2020
 
Daughter of the late Henry Grady and Rocelia May Pettus Warren, native of Norfolk, VA, wife of George Stevens Richardson, M.D., mother of G. Stevens Richardson, Jr (the late Rosanne Schultz), Carol Warren Richardson Drew (William Martin Drew) and John Garris Richardson (Madeline Sue Carr).  Grandmother (known as “GrandMay” by her grandchildren) of Evan George Richardson, Melanie Sue Richardson, John Garris Richardson, Jr., Lauren Nicole Drew, Kristen Elizabeth Drew, and Peter Warren Drew. 

May was an honor graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk, VA, where she played the oboe and the glockenspiel in the Maury Band.  She attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary (now Old Dominion University) where she received the Faculty Scholarship and was a charter member of Phi Theta Kappa. 

She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the Medical College of Virginia (now Virginia Commonwealth University) where she was President of the first class to receive a B.S. degree in Medical Technology. 

May was a member of the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and sang soprano in the chancel choir.  She was also a member of the Southern Club of Pittsburgh, the Western Pennsylvania Hospital Guild, and the Civic Light Opera Guild.

She was a resident of Longwood at Oakmont where she served on the Hospitality and Music Committees. 

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
