Lynn R. Plavan

Age 78, of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Born September 28, 1944, in Detroit, she was the cherished daughter of the late James C. and Miriam S. Roberts; beloved mother of Katherine L. Plavan and the late Kevin J. Plavan; wife of John C. Plavan; sister of the late Stephen M. Roberts; sister-in-law of: Marlene Thomas, Elaine Linkenheimer, Frank and Trena Plavan, Juliana Anthony and Karen Plavan. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Lynn was an alumnus of Miami University of Ohio and taught at Fairview Elementary School in Fox Chapel for several years prior to devoting herself to her family. She later taught nursery school and worked at Kaufman’s. Lynn was active in the Junior League of Pittsburgh and volunteered at Sunrise in McCandless. Lynn was a voracious reader and enjoyed taking walks near her homes in both Pittsburgh and Florida; she also loved good food and dining out. Among her many wonderful qualities, her positive attitude and dry sense of humor truly stood out.

Friends will be received Friday, May 12th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 13th at 11 a.m. at Magdalen Chapel, La Roche University, 9000 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to the Northland Public Library Foundation or the Hillman Cancer Center.
