Lynn Ann Labun

Passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 after a long illness.  Lynn was born April 8, 1951 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.  She was a life-long resident of Aspinwall, PA.  Lynn attended the Shady Side Academy Middle School.   She graduated from The Ellis School in 1969.  She earned a BA in Art History at Goucher College in 1973.  Lynn was subsequently awarded a Masters in Library Science by the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in Public Management by Carnegie Mellon University. 
 
Immediately after college Lynn was employed by the Three Rivers Arts Festival.  Following her MLS degree, Lynn Labun was a Science Information Specialist in the Carnegie Mellon University Hunt Library.  After several years at Hunt Library, she became Head of the Mellon Institute Library for chemistry and biological sciences.  She later became a Researcher in the Office of Advancement at Carnegie Mellon.
 
Lynn volunteered her library and public management skills to several organizations.  She volunteered at the Cooper-Siegel Community Library in O’Hara Township, at the Senator John Heinz History Center, and at Animal Friends. 
 
Lynn is predeceased by her parents, Betty (Confer) Labun and Andrew Labun. She is survived by her friend of more than 40 years, Earl Mounts; her constant joy and faithful protector, Dolly the Westie; her brother, Lance C. Labun and his wife, Patricia Ann Labun; her nephew, Lance A. Labun and his wife, Ou Zhang Labun; her grandnephew Mercure, who always brought a smile to her face.
 
Friends received Thursday, July 7th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m.
