John T. Rieger
Age 78, of Hampton Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with his family at his side. He was born in Pittsburgh on February 22, 1946, and was a son of the late George and Bernie Rieger. Beloved husband of 53 years to Joanne (Olzewski) Rieger; loving father of Megan Jameyson (Justin), Gretchen Kaminsky (Matthew), and Erin Kime (Ansley); cherished grandfather of Michael, Taylor, Kyla, Maddy, Jocelyn, and Emma; dear brother of Garnett Gibbon and Rose Ann Turner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother, George Rieger II and his sister, Valerie Seiwerth.
John lived life with passion for his family and having a great time living life. He was 100 percent dedicated to his wife and three daughters, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. Whether going out to all the restaurants all over Pittsburgh with his best friend, Joanne, or cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, or Penguins, he always included his family in everything he was passionate about.
John always had the best times on the sandy shores of the East Coast, with cherished memories from the Outer Banks, Ocean City, and Sandbridge, even confident enough to wear his Steelers jersey in Baltimore. He brought light and laughter into every room with his sense of humor and always made everyone feel welcome in every situation.
John relished the simple joys in life, especially times spent with family and close friends, sharing stories over a good beer or a taste of Crown Royal. His generous spirit and enormous heart touched many, leaving a legacy of love and the best memories ever.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25th from 4–7 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 26th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw 15116.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to the Best of the Batch Foundation www.batchfoundation.org
