Jill Taylor Ferreira

Age 62, of Fox Chapel, formerly of Aspinwall,  passed away on Sunday,  April 14, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.   Jill was born in Binghamton, New York on August 16, 1961; she grew up in Vestal, New York, and graduated from Vestal High School in 1979.  Jill graduated from Binghamton University in 1983 with a B.A. in Psychology and earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  She completed her post-doctoral work at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, and after a stint at the Devereux Institute in the Philadelphia area, she moved back to Pittsburgh to take a position at the John Merck Adult Outpatient Clinic at WPIC.  She also worked at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children and at Pressley Ridge Schools, before leaving the profession to devote herself to raising her children.  Jill was a lover of animals, especially her rescue dogs Brandi, Bella and Eva; a voracious reader; a loyal and thoughtful friend; and most of all, a wonderful and devoted wife and mother. 

She is survived by her husband, John Ferreira; their three sons Theo, Tyler and Kyle, and their daughter Victoria, all of Fox Chapel; her sister Lisa Taylor Andrews (Marcus) of Bellevue, WA; and her “sister from another mother,” Tammy Drobka (Ryan), of Lower Burrell, PA.   Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Taylor and Beatrice Cooke Taylor. 

No Visitation. Services are private.  A celebration of Jill’s life will be scheduled for later this year.
