Age 79 of Aspinwall, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Charles (Chick) H. Schweinsberg; Loving mother of Stephen Botos (Lisa) and Mark Botos (Lori). Dear grandmother of Tilman, Evan, Liam, Sara and Megan. Caretaker to her companion cat of many years, Snickers.
Janice's nursing career included serving her patients at Shadyside hospital, the Veterans Administration and St. Margaret's hospital where she was known for her skills as a specialist on the IV team. With her passing, Pittsburgh college and professional sports teams lost one of their most devoted followers. She enjoyed gathering with her family to watch a game and birthdays and holidays invariably included sports-themed gifts.
Janice loved the ocean, warm weather and sea cruises with her late husband Chick. A firm believer in retail therapy, "Grandma Chick" delighted her grandchildren every Christmas with her carefully curated stockings, lovingly assembled over many months and filled with quirky and funny items. She brought the same devotion to her grandchildren's lives; and attended more recitals, sporting events, performances and special occasions than can be counted. Always supportive, Grandma Chick was a constant presence for them all; her sons and daughters-in-law forever grateful.
Like her husband Chick, Janice was a good friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Janice was quick with a laugh and loved a good joke which she could take as good as she could give. Her nonjudgmental listening and quiet counsel always came from a place of love and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests an act of kindness to a health care worker and support and compassion for those suffering from addiction or mental health issues.
A private family service was held graveside at Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Twp.
