James Ernest Vernon

Age 76, of O'Hara Twp., passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023. James was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 3, 1946 and was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Mitchell) Vernon.

James was a retired social worker. He was an Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart and the National Defense Service Medal. James was proud to serve his country.

He is survived by his siblings, Gladys Davis of Philadelphia, Mary Chapman of Sicklerville, NJ, Joel Vernon of Philadelphia  and Anthony Vernon of Philadelphia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Raynell, and his sisters, Victoria Hance and Mahalia Boyd.

Private arrangements and burial was at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies and was entrusted to the Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall.
