James D. Dattilo
Age 91, of O’Hara Twp., died peacefully at his home with his family at his side, on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Beloved husband for 45 years of Cheryl (Easton) Dattilo, loving father of James P. Dattilo (Deanna), Dari Rose (Frederic), and the late Peter (surviving, Bonnie Bock), proud grandfather of Justin Dattilo, Juliette and Melanie Rose.
James was born in Pittsburgh to the late Peter and Florence (Matraccia) Dattilo. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Carolina and Vincent Dattilo. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a member of the football team. He served in the US Navy.
After several positions in sales, he founded Pittsburgh Structural Clay Products and the Tile Collection, where his sons worked for him for many years. He provided masonry products for large commercial projects including PNC Park and Heinz Field.
James was a member of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and was on many committees. He was a Paul Harris fellow with the Downtown Rotary Club. He was an avid Steelers fan holding season tickets for over 50 years and was also a great Pitt Football supporter.
His family would like to thank his dedicated caregivers Bonnie Bock, Nina Martin and extended family for their support.
Service and interment will be Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASCPA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
Arrangements are by the Weddell – Ajak Funeral Home, Aspinwall.
