Eugene John "Gino" Pochapsky
Age 43 of Cheswick, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Beloved son of Eugene J. and Deborah (Marcone) Pochapsky; loving brother of Bryce Anne (Richard) Koch; cherished uncle of Jack and George Koch.
Gino loved his family and friends, the Catholic Church, and singing and playing the pipe organ for the Schola Cantorum. He displayed a deep understanding of an eclectic array of subjects such as cellular microbiology, schools of Gregorian chant, theories of the cosmos and pre-1980 computers. He was an extremely loyal friend and could always be counted on to help those in need, no matter the hardship to himself. We sorely miss his sharp and often acerbic wit, his skill in directing and singing and playing the organ, cooking with him (as much a science as an art with Gino), and his heartwarming play and discussions with his nephews Jack and George.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1st and Sunday, March 2nd from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 3rd at 9 a.m. at Most Precious Blood of Jesus Parish, 3250 California Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Everyone Please Meet at Church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to the Schola Cantorum at Most Precious Blood of Jesus Parish.
