Elizabeth L. (Large) Metz

Elizabeth L. (Betty) Metz passed away on February 14, 2023, on Amelia Island, FL.  She was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1921 - the eldest daughter of the late Sarah (Davis) and Richard Large of Pittsburgh, PA.  

Betty graduated from the Ellis School (class of 1939) and was a longtime member of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh.  She is survived by her son, Dr. R. Bruce Metz (Eileen), of Fernandina Beach, FL, and sister, Nancy L. Bartholomew, of Naples, FL.  

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Dr. H. Cameron Metz, Jr. and her son, H. Cameron Metz lll (Kathleen), as well as her sister, Eleanor Anderson. Betty was very proud of her four grandchildren: Courtney Blandford (Michael) of Yulee, FL.; Ashley Jackson (Chris) of Lake Lure, NC.; J. Cameron Metz (Giuliana) of Pittsburgh, PA.; and Lauren Ballantyne (Wesley) of Denver, CO.  She is also survived by her niece, Susan Manecke, of Granville, OH and six great grandchildren.

Betty's family and friends will forever remember her kindness and generosity.  

Donations in her memory can be made to the Ellis School, 6425 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. Services will be private with interment at Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.
