Eileen Gallagher Obituary

Eileen F. Gallagher

Age 69, of Fox Chapel, passed away in her home on June 4, 2026, in the company of her family and friends. Eileen was the daughter of Charles W. Flynn, Jr., and Martha Fessler Flynn. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Daniel P. Gallagher, Jr., and their sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, D. Patrick Gallagher III, his wife Jaclyn, and their daughters Willa Eileen and Sadie Cohen, and Dr. Charles William “CW” Gallagher and his wife Doris. Eileen is also survived by her brother Charles W. Flynn III, his wife Kathryn and their children Charles W. Flynn IV and Kaitlyn Flynn, her sister Susan A. Flynn, and cousins Marcia Drozd and Charles E. Fessler III and their families.

Eileen graduated from Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Marymount College. Her friends from those days remained among her most treasured, and she went on to develop a wide group of friends in the Pittsburgh area, Vero Beach, Florida, and throughout the United States and around the world as a result of her global adventures with her husband and family. Eileen’s friends were showered with cards and letters (later texts and emails), baked goods and other treats. Planning and executing her annual Christmas cookie activities kept her busy year-round.

Eileen’s household always included an array of dogs and cats and other animals including hamsters, turtles and Mr. Duck who was rescued with a broken leg from the lake behind her home. Of the many pets, her first Standard Poodle, Ch Bel Tor Lady Branford (Brandy), and her last Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Sir Winston Churchill (Winston), were especially close to her. During her final illness, she had the constant companionship and comfort of Scout, a Cavapoo she shared with her son Patrick and his family.

Beyond family and friends, Eileen’s Catholic faith was the most important part of her life. She was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Parish, Saint Scholastica Church, in Aspinwall, often attending daily mass. For many years she was active as a eucharistic minister and took communion to residents of Lighthouse Pointe Village until the COVID outbreak. To honor Eileen’s lifelong devotion to the church and in lieu of flowers, contributions to the Eileen F. Gallagher Fund for Christ the King Parish, Saint Scholastica Church, to support the ministries to alleviate homelessness and food insecurity would be appreciated. Memorial donations may be made online at Memorial Donation - Christ the King Parish - PA or sent to the parish directly.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Fox Chapel Golf Club, 426 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Please bring your stories of Eileen’s kindness and positive attitude to share with her family. To recognize Eileen’s unwavering faith, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Parish, Saint Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Avenue, Aspinwall, PA 15215 at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 204 Cemetery Lane, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, where Eileen will join her parents, grandparents, and other family members.
