Edward C. Eckert, passed away in his sleep in the early morning of April 24, 2025 at the age of 87, a mere 15 hours after his wife Elaine (Rocco) Eckert, passed away on the afternoon of April 23, 2025, at the age of 82. They were married for 60 years. Together they raised their children, Vickie Celender (Richard), Edward C. Eckert, II and Noelle Noel (Robert).
Elaine was born to Frank and Flora (Veltri) Rocco in Sharpsburg on November 29, 1942. She was a 40 plus year Teacher Aide in the Fox Chapel School District, working at O’Hara Elementary School and was a member of Christ the King Parish. Edward was born to George W. and Margaret (Weissert) Eckert in Sharpsburg on February 4, 1938. Ed was a retired self-employed window cleaner and owned Eckert Window Cleaning Co. He served honorably with the Army, and enjoyed playing cards.
Elaine and Edward are survived by two daughters and a son and 4 grandchildren, Andrew Celender (Theresa), Alexis Celender (Benjamin Visnesky), Hailey Schaffold, and Jacob Schaffold; and great grandson, Rocco Celender. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marcella Rocco; her brother, Joseph Rocco. Edward is survived by his brother, William L. Eckert and his sister Marlene Eckert Koenig. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother George W. ”Bud” Eckert, Jr.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to their Christian Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 26th at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Joseph Church, 342 Dorseyville Road, O’Hara Twp. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, O’Hara Twp.
