Diane Siddons, age 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, following her brave struggle with ALS. Diane was born in Birmingham, England to Robert and Irene Jones. It was during a career in public accounting where she met the love of her life, Ernie Siddons. They knew each other for 70 years and were married for 63 years. Together they raised three children, David (Stephanie), Jane Herrmann (George Thompson) and Edward (Kim) and have eight grandchildren Riley, Matt, Haley, Will, Emmie, Annabel, Jake and Katie. Diane is also survived by her brother Roger Jones.
In 1977, Diane enabled the family move from Shadwell, England to Pittsburgh for Ernie’s career. She loved the Fox Chapel area but never fully embraced the American version of football.
Diane was an avid gardener and was an active member of Guyasuta Garden Club for many years. She was also a member of The Women's Board of Pittsburgh. Her interests in addition to gardening and knitting were her book club, bridge and golf at the Pittsburgh Field Club and Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida where she and Ernie spent their winters.
A highlight for Diane was bringing her family together throughout the year with holiday traditions hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, Boxing Day, birthdays and organizing the annual family vacation to Hilton Head Island. Diane and Ernie traveled extensively during their marriage. Her favorite destination of all was the Cotswolds which she always thought to be one of the most beautiful parts of England.
Diane will be remembered for her love of her family, her beautiful blue eyes, her British accent and green thumb. She was a wonderful, caring person and was blessed to have many meaningful friendships.
A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at 3 pm. Saturday, June 8th, at Christ Church Fox Chapel, 410 Christ Church Lane, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
Arrangements by Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, Aspinwall. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Diane’s honor can be made to ALS- Live Like Lou Foundation, or Salvation Army.
