David R. Kieffer

Age 84 of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Beloved husband of 62 years to Olean (Huber) Kieffer; son of the late Louis and Laura Kieffer; loving father of Marietta (late Mike) DelleFemine, Mike (Cindy) Kieffer, Mark (Lori) Kieffer and Mathew (Melinda) Kieffer; cherished grandfather of Marina “Birthday Buddy”  (Liam) Holmes, Michael DelleFemine, Mario (Natosha) DelleFemine, Alyssa (Bob) Iero, James, Emily, Ryan, MacKenzie, Joshua, Abigail, Madolyn, Evan Kieffer and the late Joseph Kieffer; great-grandfather of Elijah, Athena, Ezra, Aspen, Mason, Ryder, Giuseppe, Leonardo and Siena; brother of the late Louis Kieffer.

David was a long time manager for Doig Optical in Aspinwall, and later owner of Kieffer Optical. David was a presence in the Aspinwall community for nearly 50 years.  He was an avid collector of eagles, fish, plants, diecast cars, and gems. He loved his gadgets and jokes and will be forever remembered for his picture of his “Pride and Joy”. David volunteered with Shining Arrow, a program for adults and children with special needs. He loved riding his motorcycle with an older group of friends called “The Retreads”. David also enjoyed reading about cars, gems and nature.  After he retired, he was content sitting home “next to his lady” and watching TV. Above all else, David loved his family and visits/video chats with his grand kids. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27th from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A Christian funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 28th at 10 a.m. at Christ the Devine Shepherd Parish, St. Susanna Church, 200 Stotler Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Everyone please meet at Church.
