David Charles Borland

Age 87 of O'Hara Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Beloved husband of 51 years to Ann (Kennedy) Borland; loving father of David C. Borland, Jr. (Rachel) of Aspinwall and John K. Borland (Lisa) of Cranberry Twp.; cherished grandfather of Ashley, Charlie, Abby, Jack and Nash; brother of Helen Geiger (Edward) of Export, Thomas W. Borland of Export, Alethea Dunn (Thomas) of Delmont, James L. Borland of Export and the late Robert S. Borland (surviving wife, Erna) and the late John B. Borland. David was born and raised on the family Farm on Borland Farm Road in Export, PA. A 1949 graduate of Franklin Regional High School, David went on to Penn State University, was a member of the Air Force ROTC, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in finance in 1953. Upon graduation David served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force flying special missions as a pilot. He was last stationed in Adak, Alaska and honorably discharged in 1956. David launched his banking career with Peoples First National Bank and Trust Company, which then became PNC Bank, where he served as Vice President of Retail Banking for 37+ years. He opened the Craig Street Office of PNC and eventually moved to company headquarters, serving as regional manager of the downtown branches before retiring in 1991. While at PNC, David earned a Masters Degree in banking from Rutgers University. His sense of community service was an important part of his life. He sat on numerous boards, including Gateway Rehabilitation and Visiting Nurse Association, and was a member of three service organizations, including the Fox Chapel Rotary. He was also an active member of the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, serving in many positions. David was an avid golfer, hunter, and sportsman, and a member of the Pittsburgh Field Club. Most importantly to David, however, was his family. He was a great husband to Ann, a role-model father to two sons and daughters-in-law, and a loving grandfather. David was known for always willing to lend a hand. He was a beloved gentleman to many, and will be sorely missed. Friends received Monday, October 1, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
