Carley MacDonald of Fox Chapel passed away on February 28, 2024. Daughter of the late Adna and Josephine Leonard (Eckhart), she was born in Los Angeles, California on October 18, 1932. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C MacDonald.
Loving mother of Amy MacDonald; sister of Barry (Marge) Leonard; aunt of Brad (Hieu) Leonard; great aunt of Kaylie and Ethan Leonard.
Carley was a graduate of the Ellis School and went on to earn a Degree in Education at Goucher College. She was a dedicated elementary teacher for over 30 years at Shady Side Academy Junior School. In retirement, she visited the Carriage House Children’s Center every year to talk to the kindergarten about her travels to castles.
A talented artist, she enjoyed creating beautiful dollhouse miniatures. She attended the Guild School in Maine every summer to learn new skills.
Carley was well known for her love of history and travel. She visited many countries throughout her life, always returning with pictures and stories.. Favorites included: Egypt, Europe, Africa, Russia, Australia, Morocco and China. She also enjoyed spending time with family in Lakeside Ohio and The Tides Inn in Irvington Virginia. She was a voracious reader and could always be found with a book in hand.
Her calm and steady guidance will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 23rd from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall.
