C. Talbott “Tal” Hiteshew, Jr. 

Age 94, passed away peacefully on hospice at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, October 10, 2022. Loving husband of Paula (Lewkowicz/Laurenson) Hiteshew and the late Carolyn (Armstrong) Hiteshew.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Talbott Hiteshew, Sr. and Marie Andrews, and his sister, Frances Jensen. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Charles 'Chip' Hiteshew (Suzanne);  his daughters, Susan Gunther-Mohr and Amy Hiteshew; his stepchildren, Jeff Laurenson (Jennifer), Eric Laurenson, Mary Beth Indovina (Gregg), Jennifer Cogley (Jim) and Craig Laurenson (Stephanie).  Tal was the loving grandfather and step grandfather to 18 grandchildren.

Tal was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on August 29, 1928.  He served in the United States Army in the one hundred first airborne in the Korean War.  He graduated from Episcopal High School and earned an undergraduate degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard University.  
 

Tal began his career in 1953 with Mellon Bank and served there for 33 years, retiring as a Senior Vice President. After retiring from Mellon Bank, he was President and CEO of Eye and Ear Institute of Pittsburgh and left in 1986 to join Parker Hunter, a regional brokerage firm. In 1992 he and David W. Hunter founded Hunter Associates Inc. Tal retired at the age of 88.
 

Tal was a charitable trustee of the American Red Cross of Allegheny County, United Way, Point Park University, Wheeling College, Winchester Thurston and World Neighbors.  He also served on many boards. He was an honorary member of the Duquesne Club, Fox Chapel Golf Club and Rolling Rock Club. Tal loved to fish and hunt grouse.  He was an avid reader with a sharp whit and a keen sense of humor.  Tal was your go to guy for a great joke and he was legendary for his story telling.  One of his most loved catch phrases, "Well that's just fine, Deary," will remain in the hearts of the ladies he loved and respected. 

The second descendant of early settlers of the area, his great great grandmother Lucy Fearing Mayberry was the first child born in the Northwest Territories in the Stockades in Marietta, Ohio in the 1780's.  Tal was a descendant of William Bradford, leader of the pilgrims who arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620.  

Family and friends will be received Friday, October 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall, where a parting prayer will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Joseph Church, 342 Dorseyville Rd.
