Burt Doerfler
Age 96 of Ross Twp., passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Beloved husband of 69 years to Theresa Doerfler; loving father of Fred Doerfler (Cheryl), Debbi Musch (Herb) and Kim Strohm (Rob); cherished grandfather of Hillary Saputski (Justin), Megan Doerfler, Andrew Doerfler (Sarah), Pamela Cristina (Josh), Robin Newkold (Josh) and Coleman Strohm and great grandfather of Issac Cristina and Cyrus Newkold.
Education was extremely important to Burt. He attended night school at Carnegie Tech and after being drafted into the Army he was able to earn credits at Ohio State and later returned as a full time student at Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon University) where he met his wife. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1955. His first job was with Etna Standard and he worked as a Mechanical Engineer in a variety of industries over his career.
Mid-career he picked up a paint brush and enjoyed painting portraits, landscapes and city scapes. Later in his artistic career he picked up a camera and documented his travels with his family through Italy, Spain, Bermuda and Alaska.
Burt will be remembered for the quiet lessons he passed down—pursue knowledge with purpose, work hard for a meaningful career, explore your creative side, and, above all, choose a life partner with unwavering devotion.
No Visitation. Service and interment are private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
