Benny Liang Hong Tan
Age 82, of O'Hara Twp., passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut.
Benny was born in Jakarta, Indonesia to Tang Eng Tan (Father) and Lian Kim Nio Tan (Mother) on July 3, 1939. He completed high school and vocational school in Jakarta. Benny then worked as an engineer for the merchant marines in Indonesia before immigrating to the United States in 1972. He owned and operated a Chinese restaurant with his wife called the Dragon Inn in Pittsburgh, for over 20 years and then worked for a medical device manufacturer.
He enjoyed photography, building computers, bowling, tennis, and Steelers football. He practiced Tai Chi regularly and was an avid watcher of professional golf. As a testament to his strength and resiliency, Benny was a two-time cancer survivor.
Benny is survived by his son, Edwin and his wife Mindy of Westport, CT and grandchildren Nathaniel and Xander. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elga Tan.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 3rd from 11 30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service at Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, 100 Center Ave, Aspinwall, followed by burial at The Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
