Arthur "Bud" McSorley, Jr. Obituary

Arthur “Bud” McSorley, Jr.

Age 92, of Fox Chapel, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 with his daughter by his side. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy, daughter Holly McSorley, brother John McSorley, and sister Peggy Ann Kiesel. He is survived by son William “Art” McSorley (Beth Conlin), daughter Christine Bell (Donald), daughter Susan McSorley, brother Richard McSorley (Susie), and grandchildren Alli and Cassie McSorley, and Caitlin and Michael Bell (Lisa). Loving friend of Connie Donnelly.

Bud was born and raised in Pittsburgh and remained a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Shady Side Academy, and graduated from Lafayette College with a BS degree in Civil Engineering.  Bud was a proud Marine and served in the Corps (1st Lt.) from 1952–1954. Upon returning, Bud began his lifelong career in the construction industry with Casey Company where he eventually became president and owner. Casey Co. was involved in building many of the roads and bridges in the area and Bud was proud to discuss details and stories relative to these endeavors. Bud enjoyed a very active and social life. He was a lifelong golfer and longtime member of the Pittsburgh Field Club. He played bridge, loved to travel, was an avid reader, enjoyed movies, opera, theater, and all sporting events, particularly horse racing. Bud assisted the local Meals on Wheels program, participated with St. Scholastica Church on many volunteer ventures, and enjoyed singing in their choir.

Bud’s family would like to thank the many good and caring doctors, nurses, and caregivers who provided assistance and friendship. A special thanks to the staff of Heritage Hospice and Willows who made his last days comfortable.
