Anne Vey Stewart
Passed away quietly on April 15, 2022, following a long illness. She had many gifts and talents.
Born on September 7, 1953, and a 1971 graduate of Fox Chapel Area High School, Anne attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, graduating from there with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature in 1975. Early in her career, she worked as a copy editor for Gimbels Department store in Pittsburgh, and then Parker Hunter Investments. She later moved to Philadelphia, and for 3 years worked at the Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania, and for a number of years in the administrative offices of Chestnut Hill College. She then returned to her home in Pittsburgh, and worked for a time at the Frick Art & Historical Center. One of her favorite quotes was from T.S. Eliot, who wrote. "Most editors are failed writers, but then again, so are most writers."
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. E. Kenneth Vey and Joanne D. Vey. She is survived by her four brothers, Paul (Mary), Scott (Rose), Mark and Eric (Theresa), as well as five nieces and a nephew.
Funeral and burial will be private.
The family sincerely thanks her friends for their kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Cooper-Siegel Community Library, 403 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
