Alberta Mae “Bert” (Eastland) Shepard
Age 101, formerly of Aspinwall and O’Hara Twp., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Beloved daughter of the late J. Albert and Margaret (Bitzer) Eastland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William J. Shepard; her brother, Albert Eastland; her baby sisters, Mary and little Margaret. Bert is survived by her children, William (Cynthia), Darlene (Bob), Lu Ann (Rick), Mark (Tracy), Margaret “Peggy” (late Steve) and Jeffry (Jackie); also by 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Alberta was a lifelong parishioner of St. Scholastica Church, where she attended grade school, was a graduate of Aspinwall High School and was the last surviving student of her 1941 class. She remained friends throughout her life with her classmates.
Bert had a beautiful singing voice that she inherited from her father. She was a proud member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Sweet Adelines where she made long lasting friendships. She was employed by St. Francis Hospital as the Director of Transport team and enjoyed working with her fellow employees for 17 years.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5th from 2 p.m to 6 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall, where a parting prayer will be held Monday, January 6th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave. Aspinwall. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lawrenceville.
