Adele E. (Pompa) Secola

Age 98 of O’Hara Township passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born October 13, 1923,  in Masontown, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by parents Mariano and Martha Pompa, brother Raymond Pompa, sister Johanna Handyside (Bill), husband Tony Secola. She is beloved mother to Bobby, Gino and Rege Secola; daughter Marlene Perrott (Lou); grandmother to Bobby Secola (Jamie), Jamie Secola, Rachael Perrott (Edgar Mendez), Damon Perrott, Bianca Plotner (Dane) and Ciara Secola. She is great-grandmother to Gio Secola, Nicholas and Bodey Mendez, and Silas Teets; and aunt to many nieces and nephews in the Secola and Handyside families.

She was retired from Mellon Bank. She will be remembered for her generosity of spirit toward all she knew; her diligent efforts in keeping a nice home for her family; her dedication to “doing it right the first time;” her insistence that she was 4 feet 10 and “1/2”  inches tall; her expert sewing and embroidery skills; her sumptuous holiday meals produced in a kitchen that was forever “too small”; for learning to drive on a cutlery delivery truck; for ironing everything from socks to sheets and her never-ending pursuit to fold them perfectly; her sense of humor; her willingness to let Gino go on erroneously believing he was her favorite child; and her never-a-moment’s hesitation to help someone in need.  She was called “Mum” or “Grandma” by her children and as “Auntadele” by everyone else. She will be cherished always as a strong woman and good mother. God speed, our little Adele. 

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, July 12th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall, where a parting prayer will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Parish, St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave. Aspinwall. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Penn Hills.
