Sara M. Rooney

Age 97 passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018. Beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Sara (Duffy) Rooney; loving cousin of the late Margaret Persinger, survived by loving cousin Geraldine “Gerry” Fowler and family; and numerous other cousins. Sara was a 1942 graduate of St. Mary’s College (Carlow University). Sara retired in 1996 after 42 years of service from People’s Gas Company in Pittsburgh. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bede Parish, Point Breeze, and was a supporter of many charities. Family and friends will be received Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m at Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, 100 Center Ave, Aspinwall, where a parting prayer will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., St. Bede’s Church, 509 South Dallas Ave, Fr. Thomas J. Burke, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sara’s memory made to St. Bede Parish, Pittsburgh PA 15208.
