Raymond R. Thimons, Sr.
Age 90, of Longwood at Oakmont; formerly of Fox Chapel and Tarentum, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018. Raymond was born February 9, 1928 in Tarentum and was the son of the late Theodore and Edna (Simmers) Thimons. He was a graduate of Tarentum High School, class of 1947. He began his career at Allegheny Ludlum and after 20 years, left to found Thimons Incorporated, now TDI Group, suppliers of steel mill machinery and industrial equipment to industry worldwide until his retirement in 2015. He was a longtime member of the Pittsburgh Field Club and St. Joseph’s Parish in O’Hara Township. He was a devoted Pittsburgh fan, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His parents, and siblings, Albert Thimons, Annabelle Segriff, Agnes McCullough and John Thimons, preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Florence (Daloisio) Thimons; his children, Marcia (Steven) Noble of Washington, D.C., Raymond (Katie) Thimons, Jr. of O’Hara Twp., Corrine (David) DiBenedetto of O’Hara Twp. and Lynne Thimons of O’Hara Twp.; his sister, Mary Kish; his grandchildren, Chris, Nick, Lauren, Heather, Sarah, Rachel, Natalie and David; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall. A Funeral mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, O’Hara Twp. Entombment followed at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp. Everyone please meet at church.
