Fisher and Gordon Fisher IV and his wife Lisa; cherished grandfather of Abigail Shaw Fisher and Eliza Babcock Fisher; brother of Margaret F. Terry. Son of Gordon Fisher Jr. and Dorothy (Babcock) Fisher of Pittsburgh, Gordon began his education at Shady Side Academy, graduated from The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and earned a degree in business from Washington & Lee University, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. During college, Gordon met the love of his life, Julie (Lafer) of Detroit, Michigan and the two were married on June 20, 1953. After graduating from W&L, Gordon joined the U.S. Army in 1954, where he was a member of the Army Security Agency (ASA) attaining the rank of Specialist 2nd Class. He remained in the Army Reserves until 1963. Shortly after his discharge from military duty in 1957, Gordon returned to Pittsburgh and began working for the Babcock Lumber Company in Swissvale, which was founded by his maternal grandfather E.V. Babcock, former mayor of the City of Pittsburgh. Gordon left the lumber business as President of the company and along with his wife Julie, acquired Chapel Flowers By Duane, a small floral shop in Aspinwall, which bloomed into one of the leading retail stores in the Pittsburgh area, Chapel Flowers and Gifts. Gordon enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife and family, from cruising the Caribbean and ballooning over Africa to treating his granddaughters to a visit with Mickey at Disney World. Friends will be received Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall, where a service will be held at 4:00 pm followed by a Military Honors.
