Dr. James A. Wallace
Of O’Hara Township, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the age of 75. He was the husband of Claire Laflamme; father of Peter J. (Nickie) Wallace, Nicole (Jim) Duff, Heather (Steve) Setzenfand and Patrick J. (Mary Kate) Wallace; grandfather of Alexander, Liana Claire, Olivia, Alaina, Morgan, Peter James, Lucas, Joanna Claire and John Patrick; brother of Edward P. Wallace and the late Philip R. Wallace. James grew up in Flint, Michigan. He attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. He later earned Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Dentistry and Dental Surgery in Endodontics and Periodontics from the University of Pittsburgh and Case Western Reserve University. James served at the University of Pittsburgh for over 35 years in the Endodontic Department. He was named a Diplomat of the American Board of Endodontics. James had numerous publications in medical journals and had completed over 20 research grants throughout his career. He graciously offered his services to Catholic Charities.
Jim met the love of his life, Claire, when he was in pharmacy school in Michigan. They celebrated 52 years of marriage in November of 2018. In his personal time, he enjoyed international travel and recreational boating. He was an avid trumpet player, a DiveMaster in SCUBA and earned his Black Belt in Tang Soo Do Karate. He enjoyed besting his children in games of cribbage, watching movies, discussing current events, and shooting sporting clays.
He was surrounded by his family in life and death. No Visitation. A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held Thursday, August 8th at 10 a.m. at St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave. Aspinwall. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Hampton Twp.
