DOROTHY SHOPE GUMTO
Age 88, of Zelienople, formerly of Shaler and Aspinwall, entered into eternal life at Lutheran Senior Life, Passavant Retirement Community, surrounded by family, on Saturday February 3, 2018. Dorothy was born on March 18, 1929 in Trafford and was the daughter of the late Morgan H. and Edythe (Hummel) Shope. Dorothy was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Paul H. Gumto for 54 years; treasured mother of Harry (Lucy) Gumto of Shaler Twp., Elaine (Daniel) Hatala of Aspinwall, Suzanne (Robert) Schiffhauer of Shaler Twp. and the late Paul O. Gumto; cherished grandmother of Beth (Mark) Twerdok, Brian (Patty) Gumto, Becky (Jeff) Zillweger, Timothy (Jenna) Gumto, Lisa (Richard) Bruckman, Amy (Roger) Moline, Emily (Michael) Skelton, Sarah Schiffhauer and Robert (Deanna) Schiffhauer; and adored great grandmother of Zachary, Luke and Jacob Twerdok, Alysa, Patrick and Brianna Gumto, Austin, Jocelyn and Addison Zillweger, Maya Gumto, Blake and Camryn Moline, Declan Bruckman, and Morgan and Logan Skelton. Dorothy is also survived by two sisters, Meryle (Paul) Aylesworth of Franklin and May Schirm of Penn Hills; and many loving nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Glenn and Morgan Shope and sisters Ilene Nigut, Hazel Shope and Maude Perrine, and many extended family and friends. Dorothy was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Lemington Avenue from 1950-1982 and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fox Chapel from 1982 to the present. Dorothy's family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Lutheran Senior Life, Passavant Retirement Community, Brandywine House, for taking such loving care of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dr. Colleen Ebbert for the excellent medical care she provided prior to Dorothy moving to Lutheran Senior Life, Pastor Robert Musser for his spiritual support and guidance since 1982 and Pastor Strobel for his faithful visits at Brandywine House. Friends received Tuesday February 6, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday February 7, 2018 from 2 -4 & 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave. Aspinwall. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fox Chapel, 1610 Powers Run Road, Fox Chapel.( Everyone please meet at church). Interment will be at St. Peters Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
