Doris Bauer Riethmiller
Of O’Hara Township passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, 48 days short of her 100th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Robert E. Riethmiller, her son, William A. Riethmiller, and a granddaughter, Anna Frisnegger. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta (David) Egelston of Oakmont, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, one niece, and other dear family members and friends. Doris was born at home in Lawrenceville to the late Anthony and Hedwig (Heimann) Bauer. She lived her life beginning at age five in O’Hara Township and Aspinwall. She taught in the O’Hara Township schools and later in the Fox Chapel Area School District, retiring from teaching 7th grade English at Dorseyville Middle school in 1981. She was a long time active member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church of Fox Chapel. She and her husband were dedicated volunteers at the Aspinwall VA Hospital. She served as President of the Aspinwall Women’s Club and was a member of the Resident’s Council, Greeter for new residents, Messenger of Care sending cards for life events for the residents, and Bible study teacher at UPMC Lighthouse Pointe where she had resided for the past eleven years. Her life was profiled in the Winter 2017-2018 edition of the Western Pennsylvania Historymagazine. Friends will be received Friday, June 15, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepard Lutheran Church of Fox Chapel, 1610 Powers Run Road. Interment will follow at Allegheny Cemetery.
