Age 85, formerly of Fox Chapel, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Known as Dee to all, she was active in her community in countless ways. The church served as a center to her, both at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, and later at the Fox Chapel Episcopal Church. She also served as an ambulance driver and EMT at Foxwall. Ever creative, Dee loved music and was known to sit at the piano and entertain the room, especially in her later years. A talented artist, Dee found her greatest expression as a poet, working with a committed group at the Carnegie library and publishing her work in noted poetry journals. She saw the world with a slight tilt, acknowledging the universe in the movement of a squirrel or a cat or the kindness of a stranger. Dee was blessed with two marriages. During those years of raising children, she joined hands with her first love, John Walker. Her four children kept them busy with memorable vacations in the station wagon; she kept the peace with her unique, and loving motherhood. After John’s passing in 1990 and the kids out of the house, she met the second love of her life, Nathan Parker. Their love was special; entwined in a blended family, but always ready for adventure. They traveled extensively, and Dee took up golf again just so they could share those moments together. Her handicap stayed high, but she never gave up. As Dee’s granddaughter Lucy acknowledged: "Sassy, fashionable Dee will be sorely missed.” And that is the truth! Wife of the late John E. Walker, M.D. and Nathan K. Parker. Mother of Julia (Paul) Leonard of Atlanta, GA, Phillip (Suzanne) Walker of Glen Rock, NJ, Matthew (Jane) Walker of Baltimore, MD and Andrew Walker of Ft. Worth, TX; stepmother of Cynthia Hurley of Harmar Twp., Keith B. (Robert) Parker of Naples, FL and the late Nathan J. Parker; grandmother of Max, Lucy, John, Alex, Jack, Luke, Jacob, Allison and R. Parker. No Visitation. A Funeral Service will be held at Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Fox Chapel, 630 Squaw Run Road East. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or to Christ Church Fox Chapel, Pittsburgh, PA 15238
