Joan T. Carr

Age 85, formerly of Aspinwall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Carr, Sr.; her parents, Leo and Agnes (Neff) Gerken; her grandchildren, Nicole Albright and Victor Albright; her brothers, James Gerken and Larry Gerken; and her sister, Sr. Nancy Jane Gerken, SC. 

She is survived by her children, Karen Mendolia (Jon), Rick Carr (Susan), Judi Birch, Tim Carr (Suzanne), Tom Carr (Mary), Kathleen Albright (Dan Harris) and Patrick Carr (Blaine); her brother Donald Gerken; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Joan was a loving and selfless Mom and Grandma who was devoted to her children and grandchildren --- nothing gave her greater pleasure than to have all of her family together. After her husband died in 1977, Joan dedicated her life to raising her seven children, giving them every opportunity and complete love and support. She was a strong woman of faith who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joan enjoyed family time (especially family vacations), watching the Pittsburgh Pirates & Steelers, playing cards and socializing with her card club family.

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, April 14th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall, where a parting prayer will be held on Monday, April 15th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave., Aspinwall. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, O'Hara Twp.
