Of Fox Chapel passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Son of the late Charles and Edna May(Kimbel) MacDonald, he was born in Richford, Vermont on April 29, 1924. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jane (MacDonald) Hussar. Beloved husband of 59 years to Carley (Leonard) MacDonald; loving father of Amy MacDonald; Brother-in-law of Barry (Marge) Leonard; Uncle of Brad (Hieu) Leonard; Great Uncle of Kaylie and Ethan Leonard. After serving in the army during World War II, Ken graduated from Union College with a degree in Economics. He went on to work for Radio Free Europe and was on Dwight Eisenhower’s campaign staff. He then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the CIA. He moved to Pittsburgh to get married in 1958 and pursued a career in business writing at Ketchum, MacLeod and Grove, and Alcoa and later as a freelance speech and business writer. In retirement, he enjoyed playing the piano and drums, as well as reading and writing about politics and economics. He enjoyed summers spent at The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA and later at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL. He was a lifelong jazz lover and philosopher. His humor and insights will be greatly missed. No Visitation, Service and Interment private.
